Offering those that need it a wonderful holiday

Situated in Bembridge which is a beautiful coastal location in a natural harbour on the Isle of Wight, the houseboat is a comfortable, fun and relaxing place to be.  From the houseboat there are far-reaching views across the Solent to Portsmouth and the South Downs beyond, and from the boat and terrace you can also see the bustling Bembridge Harbour.

It is our home and we love it. We do not commercially rent it out, but in recognition that it is a very special place we lend it to those in particular need of a holiday. As such we’re afraid it’s not operating at five star standards… for example the carpet is very old! However it has a modern interior made from beautiful reclaimed wood and comes with three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, central heating, unlimited hot water, a bath and separate shower, modern kitchen and… even wifi, but deliberately no TV! Outside there is a lovely westerly facing terrace to enjoy watching the harbour and relax seeing the tide come in and out.

The boat sits on the harbour floor at low tide, and at high tide it gently rises with the water. Step out of the front door, walk up the (wide and with rails) ramp and within a short walk there are various café’s, sandy beaches, wonderful footpaths, and the trendy village of Bembridge (winner of Countryfile village of the year 2019) to explore. Plus the whole of the rest of the Isle of Wight!

We are a family of four – Hannah, Simon, Barney and Rosie. Hannah is a doctor, used to work in a hospice and now works in Portsmouth hospital. Simon used to live on a rented houseboat in London, and buying and renovating this one has fulfilled a lifelong dream. Barney and Rosie are very little but they particularly love ringing the bell on the boat, ice cream and playing on the Bembridge beaches.

For us the houseboat is a very special place which we would like to share with others. We think it offers a great chance for some relaxation, privacy and happy memories.
